Camera Raw profiles may seem like a small and boring thing but it can actually make a big impact on your images. Why? Because your Camera Profile affects the color, contrast, saturation, brightness (and more) of your photos!

So what camera profile should you use? Whatever works best for your images. Yup, there is no right answer. My recommendation is to make presets of each Camera Profile, and if you find one that you like, you can set it to apply on import (that’s what I do)

To make a Camera Profile preset in Lightroom:

Navigate on the Right Panel in Develop mode down to Camera Calibration

Click the Profile: option and select a profile.

Next, on the Left Preset Panel click the + option.

Name your Preset and check the box next to Calibration and then click Save.

Love your new preset? Right click your new preset and select “Apply on Import”.

-Camera Profiles are camera specific so your own menu of options depend on your particular camera. The following examples are taken from my Canon 7D Camera Profile options.
