Hi, I’m Kira DeDecker (“key-ra dee-decker”) and I’m a pet photographer serving Arizona’s greater Phoenix Metro area. Welcome to my blog! This is where I share not only my most recent work but also my life with you. Client sneak peeks, Facebook recaps, announcements, updates, awesome new offerings and the occasional (okay, frequent) story about my crazy but amazing life with my three dogs – Sox, Bixby and Waffles.
Pull up a chair and make sure it’s nice and comfy because you will want to stay awhile. It’s great to have you here!
New year, new segment here on the bloggity. Introducing What I Didn’t Blog About (i.e. Facebook recap)! I’ve been inspired by other bloggers and pet photogs that do weekly or monthly recaps on their blogs of things that have been happening elsewhere (and by elsewhere I mean Facebook, because I really don’t leave my house much). I often post outtakes, sneak peeks and personal photos over on my Facebook, but often times things get lost in the hustle and bustle, or sometimes Facebook just f’ups, so here is a chance to get caught up.
Since I didn’t blog in January, it seemed like the perfect place to start.
We actually picked up Waffles a few days after Christmas but the whole thing didn’t become official until the new year! To celebrate the happy occasion, he got professionally groomed at Malinda’s Pampered Pets and then Tim and I bought him a leash and collar to go with his brand new i.d. tag (you can see it in his huge mane).
Bixby, being the wild child of the house, taught Waffles how to drink out of puddles, how to use a dog bed and how much fun it is to bark at other dogs.
No, he isn’t angry, this is just how he grins.
Hey, remember that thing I said about Bixby being the wild child of the house. I meant it. Bix’s sweet revenge for all those times Waffle’s pulled her by her tail. {An outtake}
Sox strikes a pose in front of my rose brushes.
The first of Waffle’s signature head-tilt caught on camera.
Sometimes when I’m sorting photos, I can’t decide between Color and the Black and White edits so I asked FB, and the vote was color (mostly).
In the midst of a busy PACC 911 event, I snapped this photo of Tim giving Waffles a smooch.
The anatomy of the Pom Whomp in 4 steps.
I was fatigued, sore with a swollen throat with sinus pain. It was the begins of a cold. Luckily, Mr. Waffles was by my side to give me some comfort.
My whole fingernail-cutting-extravaganza per Facebook “2AM, I wake up, hot and in pain. Sox is quietly snuggled up against my stomach, apparently at some point during the night he left his bed to come and join on the couch. I get up and go the kitchen to get some meds. I grab a steak knife to cut the plastic but in my woozy state, I jab it to hard and it goes through the package and cuts my nail and finger, deep. I try to clean up the wound but my breath gets shallow and I can’t stand, I fall to the floor. Sox rushes to my face and tries to lick my tears. I try to cry out for Tim, but my throat is sore and swollen but Sox hears them and bolts to the master bedroom to go get him.”
After his midnight heroics, Sox earned his cape.
I bought a new seamless, Head-titling Waffles was kind enough to help me test it out.
My splotchy, furry muse. Whenever he sees a camera, he starts posing.
A photo of my beloved Nikki, taken in Manual mode just a few weeks after buying my first SLR camera.
Who doesn’t want to kiss this face?!
Waffles likes to sneak into my studio while I’m working and nap on my seamless. Just a few feet away Sox is posing for the camera.
After a session with 7 dogs, I started getting to work behind the scenes.
And there was this little nugget of adorable. Bella was just a fluff ball with legs.

Kira, you are seriously making me want a Pomeranian of my very own. Soda of course would never allow it, so I keep living vicariously through your gorgeous pics!

Haha once you go pom, you can never go back! Tim didn’t want Poms when we first got married but he was the one that ended up begging for Sox, Bix and Waffles.
