Snapped the above photo of Sox all the way back in 2010 and just recently re-discovered it yesterday. I love greenery, long grass and diffused light so I’m surprised I missed this one the first time around. Since my yard is pretty ugly with just few spots of green I have to be very careful where I place my dogs but even with the most careful intentions, sh#t happens (especially with wild dogs that don’t take direction and want to go bark at your neighbor’s beagles).

The original SOOC shot is pretty decent exposure. What stands out to me the most is the yellowing background and the smear of peanut butter on Sox’s nose.

For the final edit I added contrast, deepened the blacks and upped the midtones. I then edited out the yellow dead grass with the healing brush and a brush with grass colored green set to 10%. Next I enhanced the eyes and did a quick fix on some of Sox’s nose with the healing brush. For the final touch I added a nice subtle vignette.
